T-N: Pisgah Forest entrance: Roundabouts slated for 2021 to ease congestion

Can a trio of roundabouts reduce the amount of brake lights that illuminate the entrance to the Pisgah National Forest on a busy day?

The N.C. Department of Transportation is moving forward with a plan to install two dual-lane roundabouts near the forest, along with another nearby roundabout currently under construction.

The plan calls for a roundabout at the intersection of U.S. 64, N.C. 280 and U.S. 276, the popular interchange that links Brevard, Hendersonville, Mills River and the Pisgah National Forest.

A second roundabout will be installed next to it at N.C. 280, Deavor Road and Forest Gate Drive that leads into the BI-LO and Walmart shopping center. . .
