T-N: Highland Lake Road: Flat Rock, Hendersonville councils poised to spar over project

Ingles, CVS, and Western Carolina Regional Animal Hospital are the only properties inside the City of Hendersonville on N. Highland Lake Road. The vast majority of the road is in the village. Flat Rock should have final say on what is done inside the village limits, not the City of Hendersonville.

From the Times-News: “. . . During its Dec. 12 meeting, the Village Council voted to request NCDOT cancel the project. The council followed that up Monday by adopting a formal resolution requesting the project be scrapped.

In response to the village’s decision, Hendersonville City Council members are poised to adopt a resolution next week in support of the project. . .”

  1. Yes. Since when does the city of Hendersonville think it can dictate to Flat Rock what should be done here? If they think their section between Spartanburg Highway and the railroad tracks needs upgrading, they can pursue that themselves as another issue.

  2. Mr. Etherington,

There are a small handful of folks behind the scenes doing their best to exert undue influence (including the publisher of the newspaper) on the situation in an effort to further their own personal agenda/s.

Two common traits among (many of) them:

    1. Don’t live in Flat Rock.

    2. Own or are party to a business they are desperate to see benefit from a flood of tour buses.
