From today’s Times-News letters to the editor:
To the editor: It is with dismay that other municipalities are able to override the voters’ will of Flat Rock and get to weigh in on the future of the village.
The Highland Lake Road project was a vision that was voted down by electing new members opposed to the plan. The NCDOT did not rate the road unsafe as well.
When this kind of overreach happens, Pandora’s box is opened and communities should be aware of potential intervention by others. I suggest local governments recognize this alarming fact and let the village of Flat Rock decide its future.
The taxpayers of the village do not want other governing bodies to tell them how to spend their money.
